Fraudulent Postings Policy
Effective: October 6, 2026.
A real employer does not charge you to apply. This page says what we treat as a fraudulent or suspicious posting on the Locate Jobs Network boards, how to report one, and what we do with a report.
What we treat as fraudulent or suspicious
- A posting that asks you to pay for anything: an application fee, training, equipment, or a background check.
- A posting that asks for bank details, a Social Security number, or copies of your ID before you have spoken with anyone.
- A posting made in the name of an employer that did not write it.
- A posting whose apply link goes somewhere other than a job application.
- A posting for a job that does not exist, or that the employer is not trying to fill.
- A posting that misstates the pay, the duties, or who the employer is.
How listings are checked
Every listing carries a "Verified" mark with one line under it saying how we checked that listing. Section 2 of our Terms describes the three kinds of check. Those checks are about whether a role is open. They cannot catch everything, which is why every job page has a way to report the posting.
How to report a posting
Every job page has a "Report this posting" link next to the Apply button. It opens a short form. Pick what is wrong, add what you saw if you want to, and send it. You do not have to give your name. An email address is optional; leave one only if you are willing to answer a follow-up question.
Some listings open the employer's site directly and have no page of their own on our boards. To report one of those, use the contact form on the board where you saw it and choose "A problem with a listing."
What happens to a report
A report is saved and emailed to the person at Locate Jobs Network who reviews postings. A person reads it and decides. No report takes a listing down by itself, and neither does any number of reports, so the form cannot be used to push a real employer's job off the boards.
If the posting is fraudulent, or breaks our Terms in another way, we remove it. Section 4 of the Terms lists the grounds for removal and says what that means for an employer who paid for the listing.
We do not write back to say what we decided. If you left an email address, we may write to ask you a question.
To keep the form from being flooded, a single posting can take only so many reports in a day, and so can the network as a whole. When a limit is reached, the form says so. A posting at its limit is already waiting for review.
If you have lost money or given out personal details
We can remove a posting. We cannot recover money or investigate a crime. In the United States, report a job scam to the Federal Trade Commission (https://reportfraud.ftc.gov/) and to the FBI's Internet Crime Complaint Center (https://www.ic3.gov/). If you gave out bank or card details, call your bank.
What we keep
When you send a report, we keep which posting it was about, the reason you picked, anything you wrote, and your email address if you gave one. Our Privacy page says how long we keep it and who else handles it.
